What are the Different types of anchor words in backlinks?

Branded anchor text: This type of anchor text uses the name of your company or website as the link

Keyword-rich anchor text: This type of anchor text includes keywords that are relevant to your site. It’s a great way to improve your site’s ranking for relevant keywords and attract more visitors

Naked link anchor text: This type of anchor text doesn’t include any keywords or branding; it simply uses the URL as the anchor text

Generic anchor text: This type of anchor text uses a term like “click here” or “read more”

  • Branded anchor text: This type of anchor text uses the name of your company or website as the link.

    • For example, if you have a website about flowers, then you can build a backlink with anchor text that says “learn more about flowers.” When someone clicks on that text, they will be taken to your website about flowers.
  • There are 2 types of keyword rich anchor text: Exact match and partial match anchor text
    1. Exact match anchor text uses the exact keyword or phrase you’re targeting as the anchor text.
      • For example, If your keywords are “buy shoes online” or “discount shoes” and using the same exact terms as anchor text make them exact match anchor text.
    2. Partial match anchor text is when the anchor text and the target keyword are similar, but not identical.
      • Partial match anchor text is often considered to be more effective than full match anchor text, as it provides a more natural link between the two pages. 
      • This involves using a keyword as part of your anchor text, but not the entire phrase. 
      • For example, if you have a backlink to a page about blue widgets and if your target keyword is “the best blue widgets” then you could use “Buy blue widgets on sale” as your anchor text, and not “the best blue widgets.” This will help you rank for “blue widget,” as well as for other related keywords like “blue widgets for sale” and “buy blue widgets”.
